Please be aware of a scam that is being perpetrated here on the coast. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A person appearing as a rental agent, complete with website, is advertising vacation home rentals that seem to be incredible values - beautiful homes at unbelievably low prices. People have reserved (and paid for) vacation rentals that turned out to be bogus. At least one family planned a large reunion, purchased non-refundable airline tickets, and had no home to go to. They were out thousands of dollars. It is our understanding that complaints have been filed with local police agencies, as well as the State of Oregon. You can protect yourself by speaking to a person by phone or only use websites that you know are reputable. Be wary of listings on Craigslist, and such, that do not include a telephone number.
